Product Details

Chris King Precision Components was among the pioneers in the bicycle component industry to introduce a threadless headset. In 1976, Chris crafted a modular headset design that revolutionized the threadless concept, turning it into an iconic part in the cycling world. The Chris King NoThreadSet is a straightforward yet highly versatile headset, suitable for both road and mountain bikes. It has a remarkable track - record, helping cyclists win mountain bike world titles in endurance and gravity events and crossing the Tour de France finish line under the yellow jersey. The headset features aluminum cups, a bearing cap, and a stem cap, all built around Chris King's well - known stainless - steel sealed bearings. Each NoThreadSet comes with a stainless - steel baseplate and a custom starnut with a bolt. It's available in 1' and 1 1/8' sizes.

Using the Chris King NoThreadSet headset is quite easy. First, make sure your bike's fork and frame are clean and free of debris. Then, install the aluminum cups into the frame according to the size specifications. Next, place the stainless - steel baseplate and insert the custom starnut with the bolt. Finally, attach the bearing cap and stem cap. When it comes to maintenance, regularly check the tightness of the bolts. If you notice any play or unusual noise, it might be time to adjust them. Keep the headset clean by wiping it down after rides, especially if you've been cycling in muddy or wet conditions. Avoid using harsh chemicals on the headset, as they could damage the stainless - steel bearings. Store your bike in a dry place to prevent rust and corrosion.
